Need advice before buying my first mini excavator

I have been working on improving my backyard and I have a few projects coming up, including some drainage work, removing soil and preparing areas for landscaping.

I’m considering buying a small mini excavator instead of renting one every time.

I’m looking at machines around 1–2 tons because I need something compact that can fit into tight spaces.

A few questions for experienced owners:

• Is a 1 ton machine enough for basic backyard work?
• How often do you actually use your mini excavator after buying one?
• What should I pay attention to when choosing a smaller excavator?
• Are imported mini excavators worth considering?
